Google's Game-Changing 'Duet AI': How Gmail and Workspace Will Never Be the Same Again

Over the past few weeks, Google has been openly testing features that facilitate writing in Gmail and Docs. Duet AI for Google Workspace is the new moniker for the generative AI that will soon be available in Sheets, Slides, and Meet.

According to Google, the interaction between users and generative AI is one of contextual collaboration, which is what the name "Duet" conveys. If the term seems familiar, it was utilized by Chrome for a revamp that was never released.

You'll ultimately get a Duet AI side panel in Gmail, Google Docs, and Slides called "sidekick." It can be started in the upper right corner next to your profile avatar and analyzes any emails or documents you open. For each slide in Google Slides, speaker notes can be created.

Generative AI in Google Slides will produce visuals from text inputs. To add your desired information, select from the "Help me visualize" side panel's available styles, which include none, photography, illustration, flat lay, background, and clip art. A grid of 6–8 designs will be presented to you, with the option to "View more."

Background images can be made by Duet AI in Google Meet. According to Duet, this adds a subtle, personal touch that demonstrates your interest in the people you are meeting with and their priorities. In only a few clicks, you may replace that picture with one that is equally spectacular and unique.

With a "Help me organize" field, Google Sheets automatically creates tables. Dog, address, email, date, time, duration, and pricing offered are just a few of the fields in the prompt "Client and Pet Roster for a Dog Walking Business" that serves as an illustration. Before inserting, a preview is provided.

With the Trusted Tester program growing by 10 times in last week, these three improvements are coming to Google Workspace Labs. Google claims to have had "hundreds of thousands" of these testers since March.
